As for me I've always favored the stable branch as I when I started out with Debian and Linux as a whole back in the early years of the 2000' which was a period in the Linux life cycle where if you had broad come based WiFi adapters you'd have ti use the bw43-cutter tool in order to extract the windows drivers and recompile them as a Linux binary.
