GT 710 is an entry level card. It doesn't support some of the features for which nvidia driver is needed.Out of curiosity, what was wrong with the Nvidia drivers?
An old computer of mine had a GTX 560 Ti . It most certainly worked better with nouveau than nvidia. Don't remember exactly but I think the screen became totally corrupted after any long period of use.
