And on my HP laptop, the same lines were added to /etc/network/interfaces, and managed is false inside /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf; yet, it works! It looks like only specific machines get affected by this problem. This means that deleting those lines as described above is not a solution, but only a workaround for the affected machines, or in other words, hiding the effect of a problem that hides elsewhere. But when you are affected, it is good enough!
