This is 2-Step Authentication and I get hit with it every time I install a new kernel, login from a different OS, or even update my browser sometimes. It's a PITA but better for security.
You need to log in to your Google account somehow on a device which is recognised and configure settings. There are also options to use a security key or generate backup codes.
