Can you switch to virtual console?
3 keys combination [Ctrl] + [left Alt] + [F1] should switch you there, to the 1st virtual console.
(X.org and Wayland is usually on the 7th virtual console, press [Ctrl] + [left Alt] + [F7] for it.)
