This step was not necessary (because it would never be seen by the kernel). But I also failed to mention an important kernel parameter:. . . a corresponding entry was made to the /etc/fstab file.
resume=LABEL=swap-sid
. During wake up from hibernation, kernel will bypass the bootloader and it needs to know where to find the system image.Actually I am not sure whether this kernel boot parameter is necessary. With an installed system, Sid will go into and wake up from hibernation without it.
