So your next step is to identify the adapter. The computer can see it, just doesn't know what to do with it.
Find it in that list. Then google the number of it with debian included in your search. It will look something like this.
That is the hardware id of it. You very likely need a firmware that Debian does not provide. It's rare to have an ethernet device that Linux can't see but it does happen. I know those Bigfoot network cards years ago always had problems with Linux.
