This just started happening so I think it might be due to the latest upgrade. It makes no difference if I shut everything down except the terminal. When I do "top" there doesn't seem to be anything using significant cpu. The laptop is an Asus G14 which usually draws about 12 Watts. The log from /var/log/dpkg.log is quite long so I'm not sure it's a good idea to post it. Among the upgraded is libc-bin, some qemu stuff, apt, firefox-esr, gvfs-backends.
Edit: I disabled the Nvidia gpu using udev rules and it went down to 7 watts at idle. I think the Nvidia settings interface updated recently. The interface has changed, less detail. It used to show gpu usage but now doesn't.
