I find a wraparound that will be sufficient for short term, I added veritysetup into the initramfs and added a script to open the verity device.

I'm glad you sorted it out even if with a workaround. :)

It may be useful to other users to share the workaround you applied and the general disk configuration (i.e. disk partitioning).
