System and Network configuration • Debian 12 on a mid 2009 Macbook Pro (Wifi)

I just bought a cheap old MacBook pro because I thought it will make a great project machine, but it turned out to be too difficult for my skills.

The installation itself went fast and smooth, and the UI itself is surprisingly snappy and fast reacting. But installing (or at least making it work) the needed driver for the wifi card hasn't worked out for me soo far.

I followed the official instructions on debian.org/wl but it doesn't working.
What I did so far:

1. Since I don't have an Ethernet cable I connected the MacBook to my phone via BT
2. Checked the box to enable non-free components
3. Installed broadcom-sta-dkms (wl.ko is in the list)
4. Used modprobe to unload conflicting modules
5. Then used modprobe again to load the wl module

But I still have no option to choose wireless networking even though I tried restarting, reinstalling...

What I think could went wrong is that using modprobe without being root gives the "command not found" error message. After "sudo su" it doesn't shows the error but it doesn't post anything either. Since I didn't used this command before I don't know if that's normal or not.

Please help to understand what I did wrong.

Thanks!
